I FIRST SAW THIS ON THE INTERNET AND WANTED TO BUY IT. THEN, I SAW THE NEW CASABLANCA MODERNE. VORNADO SILVER SWAN IS BETTER. YOU CAN SELECT FROM THREE DIFFERNT FAN SPEEDS DEPENDING ON HOW HOT YOUR ROOM IS. I WOULD CHOOSE THE LOWEST SPEED IN CASE I WAS DOWNSTAIRS USING THE COMPUTER AND IT GOT HOT. IT OSCILLATES SO WHEN I'M PAINTING, I CAN PUSH A BUTTON ON BACK OF IT AND I WOULD HAVE IT CONTINUESLY TURNING FROM SIDE TO SIDE ON IT'S OWN WITHOUT ME HAVING TO ADJUST IT. I REALY LIKE THIS FAN!!!

Last summer was very hot in Finland! There was over 30 plus Celsius. I was as sweat as I am in Finnish bastu and I had to drink all the time Coke or something fresh juice. I was almost dying in my house but luckily I found my saviour called Vornado. Without Vornado I would burned alive. Vornado gave me a cool feeling and I was not sweating anymore. It was so comfortable to sit my room which was before the Vornado like a Inferno. You can choose three different speed levels depending on how hot your room is. I usually choose the speed level two. Vornado is worth of having!

I have owned this fan for about a year and recently have noticed that when I turn it to low speed it takes more time to get fan up to speed.Blades and cap are aluminum which is heavier than plastic blades on most fans.Electric motor in this fan has a component called a starter capacitor which provides a jolt of power to start fan in motion.It takes more power to start a fan from dead stop than to keep it going so I understand that a starter capacitor allows for a smaller/cheaper motor and also conserves electricity because a big beefy motor uses more "gas" which is wasteful.I believe that the starter ... I purchased the Vornado Silver Swan Deco Oscillating Fan based largely on its appearance and sturdy construction. It seems few manufacturers these days actually take the time to design appliances that are functional AND handsomely designed. This fan is very well-made and beautiful, much like the fans of the 1930's-1950's. That said, there are a couple of flaws with this fan. Another reviewer here said it right with regard to taking-off the front grill to clean the blades--re-assembling it is a pain. This is a great, stylish fan that moves A LOT of air. I searched high and low for a classic style fan that actually did the business, and this fan fits the bill. I think it comes in silver and black, but go for the silver.
