Amazon.com Review: Have you ever been stumped on converting grams to ounces or figuring out how much chicken you need to triple the serving size of your recipe? A recipe conversion calculator will solve these problems and become an indispensable tool for menu planning and estimating, whether you’re a caterer, professional chef, or home cook. The KitchenCalc calculates portion sizes so you can scale recipes either up or down to accommodate a changing guest list. A memory function saves recipe sizes for future use. If you often cook dishes from foreign cookbooks, the recipe calculator offers over 146 measurement conversions to help you convert between U.S. and foreign weights and measures in either fraction or decimal values. Additionally, you can convert temperatures from Centigrade to Fahrenheit and vice versa. This handy calculator also has a digital timer built in that displays hours, minutes, and seconds and that has a programmable alarm to alert you when your baking is finished. The unit also works as a standard math calculator and can perform calculations while the timer is running. Small enough to store in a drawer, the KitchenCalc comes in a hinged, hard case and has a soft plastic cover to protect the calculator’s keys from food spills. The KitchenCalc runs on one lithium battery and is covered by a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Rating: - Kitchen Calc is good, but computer can do more.
THE KITCHEN CALC 8300 CALCULATOR WITH DIGITAL TIMER IS A VERY HANDY TOOL FOR ANY KITCHEN. EVERYONE NEEDS A BASIC CALCULATOR AT SOME TIME - THIS FITS THE BILL. TO HAVE A CONVERSION TOOL HANDY IS ...WELL HANDY.
TO USE IT TO CONVERT A RECIPE IS TIME CONSUMING, BUT CAN BE DONE. IF YOU HAVE A RECIPE PROGRAM ON YOUR COMPUTER, MOST WILL DO THE SAME THING MUCH FASTER AND EASIER.
OVERALL, I AM GLAD I PURCHASED 5 OF THEM. THEY MADE GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR THE COOKS IN MY FAMILY

Rating: - You would THINK this was great
But...the instructions are difficult to follow and for a timer it's counter intuitive. I also had mine for 24 hours and the little plastic tabs that hold the cover on broke off leaving me with what looks like a broken calculator. No one from the company returned my emails, so I guess it goes in the drawer with the junk.
Rating: - A necessity for any kitchen
I am a pastry chef in SF. I came across this calculator while in culinary school a few years back. One of the best darn tools I use. Every kitchen should have a calculator, but why not one that will also help with conversions? Get this as a gift for anyone you know who loves to cook.
Rating: - Best tool for calculating kitchen formulas and recipes!
I publish Epicurus.com, one of the leading food and travel sites with more than 10,000 recipes. In an average week, I go through more than 200 hundred recipes developing them for our site or our clients. As a restaurant consultant, I scale recipes for clients every day. This calculator has made my life simpler and given me less angst over miscalculated formulae. The device is as simple to use as a normal calculator, but so much better.
No home cook... indeed no professional chef, should be without one of these devices. I've come to depend on it for accuracy, speed and efficiency. Read More
