I have personally visited the Caleca ceramic manufacturing plant while stationed in Sicily with the military. These folks know their craft and are masters at it. The ceramics are durable, dish washer safe and beautiful on the tavola italia. I highly, highly recommend them.

I have bought Caleca bowls as gifts for my rather large family for the last 15 years. They are great--don't stain--and a visual delight to any diner table. I use them as pasta bowls. Large enough to put all the pasta in and use a serving dish. Everyone I give them to loves them as well.
