This knife, come "pseudo" cleaver, is just that. In terms of what you can actually do with it, it's not much more useful than a heavy Chef's knife. As other reviewers have said, the picture does not do it justice in terms of appearance and finish! It's actually a very pretty, nicely finished piece. It is all metal; the one piece blade and tang obviously being steel, and the handle centers are brass, with the inner ferrules and the end pommel (butt) pieces also being steel. For the low price, compared to other cleavers, this cleaver is heavy duty and does not appear to be stamped/flimsy sheet steel. Excellent heft for chopping, dicing, julienning, etc. Fast shipping.

The picture does not do justice to this product. It is well made, well balanced and very sharp. It arrived promptly, and well before visiondecor's estimated arrival date.

This is a nice, heavy cleaver; really solid. It's almost a full 1/4" thick along the back of the blade, and the tang is full-width; the handle is all-metal, two shaped pieces of brass secured to the tang. The overall feel is very sturdy. The cleaver also has a hole for hanging.
This knife performs well for all kinds of cutting. Obviously it works well for heavy jobs like opening coconuts or hacking up meat still on the bone, but I was surprised at how well it does more delicate cuts, too. This Chinese cleaver is beyond my expectations, having purchased another one at a Chinese grocery. It is heavy! Solid stainless and brass - not only a work of art, feels right in the hand, and being so solid opens young coconuts so much better than my first cleaver. Love it. Definitely a gift item.
