Amazon.com Review: Contemporary styling and up-to-the-minute cooking technology make this Cuisinart Classic toaster oven a welcome workhorse in the kitchen. Built with a 0.5-cubic-foot interior, the 1500-watt oven toasts bread, bakes cookies, broils fish, and browns casseroles without heating up the kitchen. The oven holds up to a 5-pound chicken, six slices of bread, or a 9-inch pie, and the temperature settings range from 200 to 500 degrees F. Toasting controls include automatic temperature adjustment for perfect results, batch after batch, and an audible tone upon completion. With its black wrinkle exterior and tinted glass door, the oven is both streamlined and low-profile. The control panel is straightforward with three separate dials for temperature, function, and shade control. The oven's interior, complete with two rack positions and a rack safety stop, is lined with an easy-to-clean nonstick surface. The rack, crumb tray, and chrome-plated steel broiler pan are all dishwasher-safe. The oven measures a tidy 14.8 by 18.8 by 11.3 inches. Cuisinart includes automatic shut-off for safety and a three-year warranty against defects. --Emily Bedard

Rating: - Unreliable, potentially unsafe.
We've had similar problems with our Cuisinart TOB-30W as the other reviewers. We owned our first unit for two years before it started crackling and sparking when we turned it to Bake. Then it finally stopped working. Cuisinart replaced it with a brand new unit that lasted only one year before it started doing the same. They told us the three year warranty was not renewed when we received the new unit, so now they aren't able to help us. It appears that we're probably safer without the toaster oven based on the other reviews here.
Rating: - worked great for awhile
I bought this last year for a summer cabin, so it has only been used periodically over a total span of six months. Suddenly the thing refuses to turn off. We noticed this when the smoke alarm went off last night! It only turns off when unplugged. Not only that, the top unit stopped working completely so all we can do is bake. It was great while it lasted, but I read these same complaints in other reviews so this is evidently a glitch in this particular model. I don't recommend.

It is working after approximately 2 years. Still it is a clunker. The markings wipe off the knobs with a finger's touch, obscuring the temperature or function. Cuisinart is willing to send new knobs, but the old ones do not appear to be removable without removing the entire panel, which does not appear to be easy.
Somehow I was expecting more from the brand name "Cuisinart". It sounds French but is made in China.
The oven door is in jeopardy, and feels like it may come off. It is not flush. A strange buzzing sound sometimes emits when the item remains plugged into ... Read More
Rating: - Loved it until it stopped working
We had one of these toasters for about 4.5 years. I really love the space inside, the design, and the fact that it has a digital on/off switch (instead of a timer dial that tick-ticks until it's finished). Two weeks ago, the upper heating elements stopped working... How is it that my grandmother had a little Black & Decker toaster that lasted for 15 years?

Cuisinart Classic Toaster Oven/Broiler Chrome
I purchased this product several years ago. Within the warranty period (3 years) I came home to find an alarm sounding. I traced it to this toaster oven which was plugged in but with the function dial in the off position. The unit was cool to the touch but I requested a replacement unit. Well, 1 year and 4 months later, I found the replacement unit plugged in, in the off position with the buzzer sounding continuously. This time the unit was hot. Since I reported this problem to Cuisinart over a year ago, it appears that nothing has been ... Read More
