As the manufacturer points out, this fan isn't just for cooling: proper air circulation can save money on winter heating bills as well as summer cooling bills by beating air stratification. Rating: - A quiet companion
While Vornado fans are tops always, this particular model is especially good at low speed for quiet use in a bedroom or office, or it can be dialed up to higher speed to serve as a fan, plus a source of white noise. I like especially that the fan can be pointed straight at the ceiling to offer circulation without direct breeze to blow around papers or cause stiff necks. Unassuming, efficient, attractive, and easy to clean.

This is a great air circulator! The small size lets it fit inobtrusively in any room, and it really does circulate all the air in the room. It's also extremely quiet, and is much easier to assemble than a ceiling fan (two Phillips screws secure the pedestal), but is every bit as effective.
