We just purchased our third of these (there are over 350 books in our home). Every time we have ordered one, it has come well packed in layers of Styrofoam and has been simple to put together. The shelves are quite sturdy, each of our three holds at least 100 books of varying sizes.
The only problem with these shelves is that they leave marks on the wall if you have to move/straighten them. This usually only happens when first putting up the shelves and initially positioning them, as they stay in place quite well when set up and full of books.

I purchased this shelf from AtHomeMart, and am extremely happy with the product. It arrived well packaged (almost over kill on the Styrofoam if you ask me...) and went together amazingly easy. I put it together by myself in maybe twenty minutes, I didn't even need to look at the instructions!
There are only two things I can say that are the least bit negative about this product... One, I'm very sad it didn't come in an espresso finish, none of my other furniture is black. This bookshelf was well worth the money compared to other bookshelves. I looked in stores, catalogs and the internet. most other black ones where $400-1000. assembly was easy for me. it wasn't perfect but for the money it was really good and the free shipping was even better.

This item was falling apart before I even pulled it out of the box. It was cheaply put together with nails which were loose and could've easily cut someone. Your vendor should have the product back by now and I'm expecting a full refund credited to my amazon account.
