Rating: - Not compatible with previous versions of Windows
I bought the 2009 edition of Garmin maps as a gift for a friend. I am returning the disc, since apparently it is not compatible with previous versions of Microsoft Windows. The system requirements were left out of Amazon's product description.
Rating: - Just Keeping Up with Current Maps
I more or less subscribe to the annual updating of my Garmin software for my Nuvi 670.
Between the 2008 and 2009 versions, in the Chicago area, 355 near Joliet was added (missing in the 2008 version). 2008 directed me to three Harvey's in Toronto that were closed (I think there's been a lof of changes in the past few years). 2009 only shows open Harvey's.
Basically I don't see a ton of difference. If it's all about staying current, this update is for you.
Rating: - Warning - Not full software - Upgrade only!
Despite what I was told by Garmin (after 35 minutes on hold), this software cannot be installed unless you already have City Navigator installed. I just bought a Garmin GPSmap 60CSx (no maps included) and tried to load this software--no luck.
(FYI: I bought the full version of City Navigator and have been trying to install it for 2 hours--these Garmin products remind me of the early days of the PC when installing new software or hardware was an all-day undertaking. Very disappointing.)
Rating: - Garmin Maps
This was a map update for Garmin GPS units. The price was the best I found, but I was disappointed in Garmin as I couldn't tell any difference in the new map data and the old map data.
Rating: - Does what is does but overpriced
Maps loaded fine on my Garmin, but understand no map data is perfect and I've already caught one error within a week. My issue with these updates are the price. You maybe better off buying a new GPS unit if yours is old.
