Rating: - For the money, the best on the market
This slow cooker has it all.
The probe is the stand out feature, but not necessarily useful for roasts because I'm looking for the roast to fall apart and not cook further. I used the probe on a pork roast set to 170 and it got there just fine, but it switches to warm after that. The roast was still rubbery at that point. The maximum probe temp is 180 so I switched to an instant read thermometer and monitored it until it reached 210 for about an hour. It may have been done a little earlier, but not much. The probe does have an outstanding use though, it will be especially useful for ... Read More
Rating: - Died the first time I used it!
I had been looking for a crock pot for awhile, and decided this one had all the features I needed. I had read the reviews about a few people having issues with it, but was hoping the company had improved their quality control and worked out the bugs. This was not the case! The crock pot died right in the middle of the first meal I made. Don't take a chance on this unit. The crock is of good quality, but the cooking housing feel cheap and the display is hard to read. And it breaks!
Rating: - Fantastic slowcooker!
I was going to buy a unit that switched to warm after cooking from Wal-Mart but came home and found it had horrible reviews, so I looked to see which units had good reviews and found this one - not only does it go to warm after cooking, it has a probe!
I've cooked about 6 meals in it so far, including a corned beef from frozen, put it in with water and 12 hours later on low it was one of the best corned beefs I've had in a while! Tried a Pacific Pork Roast recipe from [...] in order to test out the probe (I'm very cautious with pork and loved the fact it had a thermometer for it). It ... Read More
Rating: - Quit after 2 uses, new one wouldn't power up
Thank gawd Target has a 90-day return policy! I purchased this on sale and used it twice with great results. Yesterday I came home to a pot roast that quit cooking several hours ago... all my groceries spoiled. Today I went to Target and returned the defective unit and picked up a new one. Plugged it in and filled it with goods for split pea soup. Hit the power button... and... nothing! I'm done with this brand. Looks great, works great the two times it did its job, but the electronics are obviously NOT very durable or sophisticated. I treated this pretty unit carefully, so nothing was ever spilled ... Rating: - NOT For Shabbat Use
I own and love a smaller manual Hamilton Beach crockpot that I use to keep meatballs warm for the kids on Shabbat. When I decided I needed a second crockpot for soup or cholent for the adults, I decided to go for the fancier model.
Disaster struck.
On Shabbat morning, I found the crockpot completely off and my cholent rapidly cooling. I blamed myself; I must have done something wrong. But no, it wasn't me. THIS SUCKER SHUTS ITSELF OFF AFTER 14 HOURS. Unfortunately, that's in the small print, buried on page whatever-you-never-actually-get-to in the manual. In other words, ... Read More
