Editorial Review:

Product Description:
It is clear as crystal - the Clara Water Kettle is made for those who appreciate transparency as much as design! The body and the handle come in heat-resistant see-through borosilicate glass. The use of borosilicate glass testifies to BODUM's sensitivity to people's need for natural and non-reactive materials, which are smell and taste free and do not taint water. The Clara Water Kettle is light in weight and has a capacity of 1.75L (59 oz). The whistling feature, when water reaches its boiling point, adds to its convenient handling. The blue color used in the plastic grip and silicone gasket of the stainless-steel cap and the spout whistle intensifies the impression of the water cleanliness during the boiling process. It can be used with electric, ceramic or gas stoves (not induction) - before putting it in the microwave, lid and whistle need to be removed. All parts are dishwasher safe.

Amazon.com Review:
Kettles made of some metals can leave an unpleasant taste in the water, and sometimes even rust particles. The Clara kettle from Bodum eliminates that reactive process, resulting in a purer water quality and better tasting tea. Bodum makes the kettle completely of heat-resistant borosilicate glass, with a stainless steel lid. A fresh glacier blue colors the lid knob, plastic whistling device, and silicone gasket in the lid to impart a pristine feel. The kettle is clear (except for warnings about hot water in the proximity of children printed on the sides), and may be used to boil up to 59 ounces of water on a gas, electric, or ceramic stove, but not an induction burner. With the lid and whistler removed, the glass kettle is safe for heating water in a microwave. All the parts are dishwasher-safe. --Ann Bieri

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Broke with boiling water in it!
Had it for 2 weeks. Loved it. Until yesterday morning I lifted it as it was boiling... the bottom just fell off-- with all the boiling water spilling on my legs! I had to take the day off from work, run around going to the doctor's for 2nd degree burns and then to the pharmacy for special ointment for my wound! I am very upset with this manufacturer for creating such false advertisement!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - It BROKE!
I drink tea every day and loved the idea of an all glass tea kettle. First of all, I read another review that said the 'ball' on top is glued on...mine was screwed on but did come loose easily. Second, the seal around the top was either too tight or not tight enough because the lid would pop off the tea kettle when it came to a full boil. So I removed the seal, no big deal...but THEN I noticed it...the crack...just under the base of the handle...1" long. I didnt even save the box and didn't use the thing longer than a week. Very disappointed. If it didnt have all of the warnings written on ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Keeping the kettle on
For a long time, I'd been looking for whistling glass water kettle that didn't look like a diner coffee pot with the bulbous bottom, wide plastic lip at the top, and the angled plastic handle. I wanted one in a format that could be used on either a stove top or in a microwave. After conducting several searches online, it seemed that the Bodum Clara Kettle had all the features I wanted. While large enough for a good quantity of water (59 oz or 1.75 liters), it is compact enough to fit in a small microwave. (The whistler insert and lid must be removed for microwave heating as they are made of metal.) ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A health conscious purchase
I searched for weeks for a safe non-metal kettle. This was the only one that met my criteria. I thought it was a little pricey, but since this was the only one I could find I purchased it anyway. I'm so glad I did! I love it and everyone who uses it loves it too. Once you have the kettle you never really notice the writing on the glass.
