I have owned a Chef's Choice knife sharpening system before but it was an old lesser model. It performed ok and made my knifes useable. I read a lot of reviews for this product and decided to get one for myself and I also sent one to a friend. I love to cook and I have a nice set of knifes that I was going to take out to have professionally sharpened. I got this system and was a little skeptical due to some of the negative reviews. I sharpened my set of Henkels that are 6 years old. They couldn't cut your finger even if you tried.
Fast forward to the M130. Within 10 minutes, all my knives were sharpened. I opened up our brand new Global knife from Williams-Sonoma that we got as a wedding gift to compare.
I cut several oranges with the global knife and then with the Henkel's chef's knife. The difference is so minimal that you would hardly be able to tell unless you were doing an A/B comparison.

Performance is much improved over previous Chef's Choice models. Following initial use, it did not appear to sharpen serrated knives well - minimal increase in sharpness,if any. Otherwise, provided a rather rapid, foolproof means for maintaining sharp non-serrated knives.
Rating: - Carefull, you could easily cut yourself!
The warning that the "knives will be sharp so be carefull" should be an audio so when you open the box, it yells at you! The knives were sharpened
per instructions (a must read!)and within a few minutes, both my husband and I had cut ourselves! A little care and we are both cut free, but initially look out! This sharpener really does the job!
