Amazon.com Review: Heavy, strong, and durable, the four knives in this set cut a steak, lamb chop, or pork roast into bite-size pieces and look terrific at the table. Fully forged from single pieces of high-carbon stainless steel, the knives have straight edge (rather than serrated), 4-1/2-inch blades so they slice cleanly through meat without tearing the fibers. Their classic three-rivet, black-plastic handles have full tangs for strength and the knives have bolsters for balance. After dinner, the knives go safely into the dishwasher. --Fred Brack

Rating: - very pleased / good value for it's price range
I have many higher end, expensive knives with ice hardened steel that I cherish ...however, I was looking for a set of decent steak knives that wouldn't break the bank....AND keep a good edge. These are probably one of the best value per dollar items in their price range. Forged, hardened steel, (tho not ice hardened) a bolster and full tang...all at a reasonable price! I use a professional electric sharpener on all my knives....so I don't know if those of you with just a sharpening steel will have as good an edge lasting on "your" knives. Bottom line, from my position....I did a lot of research ... Read More
Rating: - Greatest steak knives I have owned.
Very balanced and easy to cut. No serrated edges that tear the meat. Very well worth the money.
Rating: - Dishwasher???
I bought a set of these in May of 2001. When I looked for a set for my daughter in November of 2004, I was surprized at the negative reviews. It's true that they're not great knives, but they certainly are very good knives.
It's unfortunate that Mr. Brack, the Amazon reviewer saw fit to mislead people about the care of them.
Dishwashers are ultimatly harmful to any decent cutlery.
Rating: - well built but cheap
made in china. very solid construction but just plain stainless steel. a slight honing of the metal that they call sharp. i started sharpening as soon as i got them, i had a hard time getting a decent edge. for that matter i still haven't gotten one. for you people that don't need a truly sharp knife they may be okay. i'm going to have to work on them after every use, i'm sure.
Rating: - Good knives, great value
For the price, these are fantastic knives. I've had no problems with them at all - and they're quite sharp. Best not to put in the dishwasher. They will rust if water stands on them, and the handles don't respond well to the dishwasher. The blades are thick and sturdy, unlike many steak knives in this price range. Treat them right and they will last! I'd buy them again.
