This size is perfect for a large sandwich, a slive of pizza or a cut-up apple & some cheese. (That's what we mainly use them for!) A dinner plate is too big and Fiesta's bread plate is too small for such things, but like the baby bear's things in the story of the Three Bears, this one is just right!
Seriously, though, we use these every day and are delighted with them.

Rating: - I've got to agree that these plates are great
I've got two of these, plus the Gusto Bowl in Tangerine Orange, which is an exceptionally beautiful color. They're thick, chunky, solid tableware that look very attractive and festive. I've ordered from Fiestaware about four times now, and they always package their product with great care: padded on all sides by sheets of heavy, corrugated cardboard the way wine-bottles are shipped. Plus I remember that all the orders I placed showed up remarkably quickly, well inside the promised delivery date. I'm very happy with Fiestaware in general.

The 9" plate was in perfect condition. The mixing bowls each had a few raised white bubbles on them. I have returned them for replacement.
