Rating: - Works well at first.. unfortunately doesn't last
This can opener suffers from a serious design flaw; the cutting wheel is recessed inside the plastic housing, which eventually allows dirt to clog the free rotation of the cutting mechanism. Additionally, or possibly as a result of the above mentioned problem, the cutting wheel has become chipped and dull- the opener now fails to cut fully through the cans atleast 50% of the time. Expect about 6 mos. to 1 yr. of trouble free operation, before the problems arise.

I purchased this item, but threw away the packaging before I knew how to work it. (oops!) Once I figured it out I was amazed at how easy it is to use. No sharp edges! You can use the cans for projects/crafts later. Cuts lid down to the glue used to seal it to the can in the first place. It's a cool little thing! I think the bad reviewer just got a bad one and should've simply written a letter to the company. Companies are pretty good about standing by their product and sending replacements or coupon for replacement.

I purchased the ORBI in April 2006 and two weeks ago, the teeth quit "gripping" the can rendering the product useless. Considering most good old-fashioned openers last for years, I think the fact that this one barely lasted ONE year says everything you need to know when considering to purchase this product. Choose something else.

Purchased June 2006. Quit working June 2008. The teeth won't grip anymore. But my old style can opener still works just fine, and it is much older...
I think it has a lifetime warrantee, but the store no longer carries it, so they won't accept the return. Also, the Goodcook website no longer lists it as one of their products.

The unique design of this can opener makes it comfortable to use. And it does indeed leave no sharp edges on either can or lid -- no finger cuts here!I'm impressed. As one reviewer here noted -- it is amazing! This is a keeper.
