Rating: - Don't be scared off by installation!
A little careful measuring and this knife rack installs easily and quickly. I like this design in particular because it conceals the screws which makes for a better look. I'm very pleased with the look and the convenience. No more knife blocks for me.
Rating: - Ditch the Block, Go Magnetic!
First I have to take a moment to say why you want a magnetic knife holder and why you definitely don't want a block. In a word: hygiene.
Dirt, moisture, and other undesirable elements creep into those cozy crevices in your knife block. This makes your knives unsanitary and can even damage the blades by promoting rust or other corrosion. In addition, as another reviewer so aptly pointed out, running your blades into and out of the block slots will invariably wear out the edge.

Rating: - Think outside the block.
Eventually it happens. The butcher block knife holder runs out of slots and now you have more knives than space for them. Where do you put the bread knife that came with the bread machine? What about that snazzy santoku you just HAD to have because you're a die-hard "Iron Chef" fan and you want to be just like Masaharu Morimoto?
Storing any big sharp knife in a kitchen drawer is an invitation to disaster. Another slotted butcher block will only gobble up more counter space.

Rating: - Poor Mounting System
I purchased one of these at a local kitchen store. To mount it to the wall you must remove the endcaps and anchor one of them to the wall. You must then place an anchor on the other side and slide the endcaps together. This is not only difficult to do but makes it almost impossible to get a secure fit. This product is very poorly designed. I returned it for a refund.
