Amazon.com Review: The Perfect Tear paper towel holder eliminates waste by allowing exactly the desired number of paper towel sheets to be torn off the roll with just one hand. The secret lies in the secure, horizontally wall-mounted base and the ratchet system inside the towel holder. By allowing the roll to make incremental turns in just one direction, the ratchet holds the roll steady during pulling and tearing, thus preventing unraveling.
Three parts come with this towel holder: a weighted chrome arm that protrudes five inches from the wall (two screw holes are on a two-inch center; two 1-1/8-inch screws and two plastic sleeves are included); an 11-inch metal dowel that screws into the arm and features a bullet-shape tip; and a flexible wire cage through which the central dowel passes that conforms to the inside cardboard tube of a paper towel roll. The dowel and cage attach to the arm without tools, but a Phillips-head screwdriver (and possibly a drill) is needed for the wall-mounting. Was very useful and serves its purpose. Its great saving the counter space by not having a regular paper towel holder. I recommend you buying this. Very easy to mount and comes with everything. Just get a screw driver.
Rating: - Best Paper Towel Holder EVER
This is probably my favorite gadget in my entire kitchen. It works exactly how a paper towel holder should and I wonder why these don't come pre-installed in every house built.
I can't speak more highly of it. It dispenses paper towels quickly when you need it, without too much coming off and puddling on the counter. Hands free operation, easy to refill, and nice looking to boot.
Rating: - Where's the resistance?
I bought two of these based on all the great reviews. The ratchet resistance on this holder just doesn't seem to be there at all. It's extremely easy to just pull more than one paper towel, at least on the holder that I tried. I thought there might be some way to adjust the tension, but didn't see any. So for me, the towels just roll off this thing the same way they would an ordinary paper towel holder. If it were a bit harder to pull, it'd be fine. You can build a better mousetrap! This holder works as advertised, is reasonably priced and can be mounted is several ways. What more can you say, I'm buying a second one.

I mounted this unit under the kitchen cupboard and both my wife and I love it! It works great and seems to be built very well. We have not had any problem with cratfsmanship and we have pulled 3 rolls through it. It also looks great and saves counter space. Highly recommend the "perfect tear" as it is a true statement. Just enough resistance to stop from unrolling while giving you the ability to tear fast OR slow. Great product!
