Amazon.com Review: Zest electric pepper and salt mills from Peugeot are not only fine examples of contemporary design, but work effortlessly thanks to batteries, a boon for those with hand or wrist issues. Each seven-inch Zest mill is made primarily of a soft-touch body that feels good in the hand and is available in a choice of several bright colors. A loop in the top and a clear acrylic viewing window add a bit of design zest. The difference between the salt and pepper mills lies in the grinding mechanism. Peugeot pepper mills use case-hardened-steel grinding heads with two sizes of grooves; the larger grooves crack the peppercorns in half and direct them into the smaller grooves, which grind them much more finely than most mills. The grinding mechanism in Peugeot salt mills is purposefully constructed with 18/10 stainless-steel, which won't corrode from prolonged contact with the salt. The top of each mill unscrews for adding peppercorns and salt, while a wheel on the bottom turns to vary the coarseness of the grind.
The Zest mill comes in just one size and makes a striking gift, either individually or in a set. Four AAA batteries are required for operation, and are included with each mill. Care for a mill is easy: clean the exterior and inner chamber with a damp cloth; never immerse in water; avoid putting salt in the pepper mill, or grinding green or pink peppercorns by themselves (mixed with black is fine); and avoid damp types of salt (usually pink or gray) in the regular salt mill. Made by the huge French auto maker, Peugeot (the company apparently started out making small mills in the 19th Century), this is a well-designed, durable, high quality, battery operated mill. We ordered both the salt and pepper mills. I really like the salt mill as it has a stainless steel grinder that won't rust. The body of the mills are made of strong plastic so the bottom of the mills won't rust either (like other mills we've owned). One little glitch... the mills did not came with instructions, so getting the battery compartment open was a bit of a challenge. Tip: the little 'lock-tabs' ... Read More

This is a fantastic small automatic grinder. The size and shape are perfect for people who cook for one or two. The grinder was a little hard to separate to get the batteries in, but after a few trial and errors, it went together very well. The grinding adjustment is very easy - everyone can change it to their preference. If you want a very easy to use electric pepper mill, this one is the answer and it comes in so many colors -sure to go with every kitchen! Takes one finger to push the grind button plus the soft texture is easy on the hands.
