Amazon.com Review: A mid-range line for the proficient or aspiring home chef, this R.H. Forschner block set consists of a selection of the most commonly used kitchen cutlery. The blades, hand-finished in Switzerland, are constructed of high-carbon, no-stain steel, with a full tang for superior strength and balance. The knives retain their sharp edges and are readily resharpened when necessary. All the utensils feature black fibrox handles, molded in an ergonomic shape that is designed to reduce wrist tension over extended periods of use.
The five knives in this set consist of a 4-inch paring, 6-inch boning, 8-inch chef's, 8-inch bread, and 10-inch slicing. Completing the selection are a 10-inch sharpening steel and pair of kitchen shears. All come with designated slots in the solid hardwood block, angled for quick access. Covered by a lifetime warranty against defects, the cutlery in the set is dishwasher-safe, although washing by hand is recommended. --Ann Bieri

Rating: - Very nice set, biggest knife is the tiniest bit flimsy
I do love this knife set, especially for the price. The knife block looks awesome, everything works as expected, and it's a joy to cook with. I slice through meat, veggies, and everything else without problem, and very neatly. My one issue is that the biggest knife seems a little bit flimsy. I don't know if my cutting block is the issue (plastic, not wood), which may well be, but it doesn't seem to have the thickness I expect. Maybe I'm just used to dull knives, though. In all, I recommend the set, especially for the price. I'm sure you already know how highly rated this set is by knife ... Read More
Rating: - Chef Ed (retired)
To a professional chef, no kitchen tool rivals a great set of knives. When learning my trade in Paris, France, I used only the finest Sabatier knives. Later in life, I was fortunate to make a Swiss Miss a Mrs. Typically frugal and practical... and from a family that has had the same Restaurant Bauernhof for centuries... so, when my prized Sabatiers were lost in transit, she replaced them with a more economical (stamped not forged) Swiss brand, R. H. Forschner by Victorinox.
Suddenly, this 70 year old retired chef cut through decades of knife prejudice... the sharpness, balance, thin ... Read More
Rating: - Good knives, good price
The handles on these knives provide a comfortable non-slip grip. The block has 2 extra slots for other knives. I added a paring knife with a smaller handle. The small Victorinox paring knives have a slimmer handle and to me are more agile to use than the fairly large handled paring knife that comes with the set. They are a recent acquisition so I haven't used them very long but I'm pleased so far. I bought it because I've used other Victorinox or Forschner knives and have always been happy with them.
Rating: - Sharp. Very sharp.
Don't let the all-business black non-slip handles fool you. These are some fabulous knives.
They don't have the thick back of most quality forged knives (these are stamped). They don't have rosewood handles. They're not made to pimp up your kitchen or match your mixer. They're made for cutting things, and they do this exceptionally well.
The blades are exceptionally shiny steel, very similar to Victorinox's Swiss Army knife. Things don't stick to the blade much. Like Swiss Army Knives, they also have a comparatively thin back and very little 'wedge effect.' This means ... Read More
Rating: - GREAT VALUE & KNIVES
This set was a wedding gift...I was pleased AND impressed the couple knew (internet research!) enough to request these exceptional knives. It was a great joy for me to honor their request. They are very pleased with their choice.
