The smaller of two serving bowls, this one takes the shape of a round bowl that's been gently pushed into a more oval shape while still in the moist clay stage. With its slightly wavy and uneven rim, giving it a rustic yet modern appeal, the 9-1/2-inch bowl compellingly serves up a crisp green salad, fresh fruit salad, and side dishes of rice or vegetables. I would be embarrassed to disclose how much time I spent looking for every day dishes. Most of what's out there seemed trite and boring. When I saw Sophie Conran's designs for Portmerion, I knew I had found what I was looking for. The design is fresh, the contours are a blend of modern and rustic and it is lovely to hold. I especially like the slightly out of round shape of the bowls and the way the various colors available work together. My "set" includes celadon salad plates and soup bowls with white plates and cups. Serving pieces are in all three colors with biscuit reserved for baking dishes. ... Read More
