Amazon.com Review: This large, oval electric raclette grill makes it possible for eight people to enjoy a festive meal of Swiss-style melted cheese or foods such as kabobs, burgers, or fajitas. The grill is a two-level cooking unit with a pre-set thermostat. The 13-1/4-inch-long nonstick top functions as a griddle to fry food and toast bread. Underneath the top is a heating element that functions as a broiler to melt cheese--or to brown food--placed in eight, wedge-shaped, nonstick trays and slipped onto the base's chrome top. (Traditionally, the cheese is mellow, nutty Swiss raclette, which is also the name of the meal.) Including its handles, the rugged plastic base surrounding the chrome top measures 17 inches long. Both the base and its top wipe clean. The nonstick cooking plate removes for cleaning as easily as the nonstick trays. All this and more is explained in the instruction/recipe booklet. We're veteran Raclette fans after 34 years in Europe. We had to sell our two 220-volt makers when we moved back to the U.S. and bought this one as a replacement. It works fine except it doesn't come with the little wood or plastic pieces to push the cheese off on to your plate. We can live without them, though.

Not enough time to prepare dinner, this is the all time solution, just sit around the Raclette and enjoy a self-prepared meal in no time.

We got it 3 weeks ago and did a few Raclette Parties already. This is fun for the kids and entertaining for our american friends :-) Just need to find the right cheese which is not that dificult at least in California.

This raclette is great... minor issues:
- does not come with the spatulas, you have to buy those extra
- gets too hot if you do not use it for at least 4 people
...but still a bargain if you don't want to spend more than $50! Would buy again!

I do recommend that you purchase a raclette cook book for more creative recipes. The possibilities are endless. Quick and easy set up/clean up. Makes a great gift for anyone who likes to eat.
