Amazon.com Review: Lots of folks dislike the burnt flavor that coffee gets when it sits in a glass pot over a heating element. To avoid this, coffee shops often brew right into large thermal pots to keep the coffee warm without it becoming overcooked. The Zojirushi Fresh Brew does that, too, but in home-sized batches. It looks great, too, with a glossy black body and stainless steel carafe and brew basket.
To brew, lift the lid and swing the water outlet spout to one side while the filter is being loaded; the spout will return to its proper position when the lid is closed. A small red ball in the water gauge makes it extra simple to read. And an electronic clock module also serves as a timer that will start the brewer at a specified time. The carafe's lid is designed to be on during brewing, with a small cap to help keep the heat in after it's ready. The Fresh Brew also has a pause-and-serve function that stops the flow for 30 seconds while a cup of coffee is served.
To clean the brewer unit, use a solution of white vinegar and water, following the instructions in the accompanying booklet. The unit is not immersible. The exterior can be wiped with a damp soft rag; do not use abrasives or scouring pads. The filter reservoir is removable; clean with warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. The coffee brewer measures 15 by 12 by 9 inches (includes carafe handle when unit is completely assembled), and it uses #3 cone-shaped disposable paper filters. Purchased this coffee maker in Nov. 07. Worked great for 6 months and then stopped working. Water would not go through the maker. Called customer service who stated that I could return it for repairs at any of there service places (which I did). Now 2 1/1 months later, still no coffee maker. Repair shop wants $15 to ship it back. Zojirushi said they contacted the repair shop and told me I would get it back free of charge. Well still no coffe maker. I believe I will never get it back. Its a good coffee maker, but I'm not willing to shell out another $90 for a pot that will only last 6 months.

It was finally time to replace our old 10 cup Braun coffeemaker, and after doing a bit of research we went with this model. I wasn't quite prepared to shell out $2-300 for one of the really fancy carafe machines. We're very pleased.
There are some flaws. I'm not a big fan of the design of the lid and drip arm (separate lids for the water reservoir and basket would have been better). The lid of the carafe would be hard for my arthritic grandmother to manage, and feels a little cheap.

I guess I must be a bit of a coffee snob but this coffee makers, richness and fullness when processing the coffee lacks a lot. The temperature of the coffee is a little hotter than Warm.
After reading the reviews I decided on this one but I think I will send it back. I am used to my Barista from Starbucks and this one just doesn't cut the mustard.
I am so glad I didn't sell my Barista I will just deal with it tempramental disposition and enjoy great coffee

We have had the coffeemaker--or the similar, earlier model--for over one year and we are generally pleased with its performance. The one negative, it terms of making great coffee, is that when the water is sprayed into the coffee grounds it does so only in the center of the cone. It takes much more coffee grounds to make a strong cup than if the spray wand was dispersing the water over a greater surface area of coffee. Often when finished there is a small dip in the grounds where the water was concentrated.

We've had this coffee maker for a little over a year now and I thought it necessary to write a follow up review. For the first year or so this coffee pot was great. It brewed consistently good coffee and kept it warm (not hot) in the insulated carafe as promised.
However after a year of use the coffee pot is really sluggish when brewing and automatically shuts off in 15 minutes. So unless you watch to be sure it is actually done brewing you will only be helping yourself to a cup or two rather than a whole pot of coffee. This is REALLY annoying.
