Rating: - How did I miss this?
I came across this by accident while searching for another band. Twenty nine tracks, and at least 27 are brilliant. Everyone in my family loves this album. What a lineup of stars! (and NO kid rock, no rappers!) Tastefully Done!
Rating: - SUPERIOR LIVE RECORDING FROM OUR GENERATION'S GREATEST MUSIC POET
The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration is a live double-album release in recognition of Bob Dylan's 30 years as a recording artist. Recorded in October 1992 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, it captures most of a memorable show full of celebrities, new and veteran, performing classic Dylan songs, before ending with a few performances from Bob Dylan himself. The house band for the show is the surviving members of Booker T. and the MG's: Booker T. Jones on organ, Donald "Duck" Dunn on bass, and Steve Cropper on guitar. Joining them is drummer Anton Fig, filling in for the late Al Jackson. ... Read More
Rating: - An excellent variety of interpretations
Dylan's songs have been interpreted by everyone from Trini Lopez to Jimi Hendrix, & so goes this excellent collection of legendary artists. My personal favs were Clapton, Winters, Johnny Cash, & Tom Petty. I was less impressed with John Cougar Mellencamp Smith Jones (or whatever he goes by now) & Eddie Vedder.
But it's definitely a keeper.

As the author of the Jefferson Airplane book "Take Me To A Circus Tent" and a former radio disc-jockey, I am often asked to write and or discuss various music supplies and recordings from the 60's and 70's.
October 16th, 1992 New York City's Madison Square Garden is sold out for a tribute To Bob. Dylan that is. The 30th Anniversary Concert would bring together not only Dylan's long time friends but those that were touched by his music. The evening was a true celebration and for several hours as the famed concert hall rocked, all seemed right with the world.
Rating: - awesome Bobfest!
I was living in NYC and working when I heard this concert announced on the radio. Sold out in minutes! Never did get a ticket, much to my regret but this cd and the accompanying video make me feel as if I was there to celebrate the music of Bob Dylan or as Neil Young proclaimed, 'Bobfest!'. Rarely a week goes by when I don't listen to a few tunes from this concert. The collection of artists could make the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame quake in it's boots. John Mellencamp kicks things off in high gear with LIKE A ROLLING STONE. My other favorites are Richie Havens, JUST LIKE A WOMAN. Eddie Vedder, MASTERS ... Read More
