This is a good product. I wish it were just a bit larger, though.

Like other reviewers have stated, it looks great. However, the first one arrived shattered and I thought it was an anomaly.
Unfortunately this wasn't the case. I found it to be completely impractical (too small) and the replacement shattered within 2 months. The ceramic just isn't made for real life. Too bad.

Like other reviewers, the handles slipped a lot and were hard to place back on the nub. A bigger problem was that this composter (we bought this one to replace a stainless one we had for a year and had to get rid of b/c my husband threw it, dented it, and then the lid didn't fit) attracted an absurd amount of fruitflies -- aprob we did not experience with the other, I think b/c the ceramic pot does not have a very good lid fit. Rating: - works okay but needs a different handle
The metal handle slides off the ceramic knobs too easily to be functional. A sturdy side handle would make one-handed operation much easier. Looks nice and keeps odors down, but does nothing to stop the fruit flies - they're swarming inside and out.

Product looks good, no odor, works well, great to use with biodegradable bags.My house continues to become more and more green, especially with this product.I can put everything from pinched off leaves from house plants to coffee grounds to hair from the hair brush to bread crusts to...anything that is biodegradable! Make sure you purchase corn-based bags to line the crock-Excellant product.
