Beautiful unit, but it took a while to arrive, it did make many lovely stops from the east coast to here, and a hassle to receive 'cause I had to sign for it, and I work, so it meant time off. It came with windows Vista (normal)which I had removed and replaced with XP.
Computer works great, standard 6-cell battery life is awful. 9-cell battery, at additional cost, allows almost 2 hours use if watching a DVD. Supplied 512M RAM is not sufficient but adding another 512M is cheap and very easy to install.
Rating: - 512MB ram is not enough for Vista
This notebook was a gift for my mother. It came preloaded with Vista, which requires at least 1 GB of ram; however this PC comes with only 512MB. Without even loading any additional software, this PC was aggonizingly slow. Even my mother who had never owned a computer thought it was slow. After an upgrade to 2GB of ram (separately bought and self installed) the computer was working well. This is a great notebook for the price, but I would recommend a RAM upgrade to anyone considering this PC.

I bought this computer to replace another Thinkpad that I loved. This computer is a STUD. I bought it with only 512MB of Ram due to the cost. ONLY $399!!! I had to upgrade to 2 MB of Ram and man......this computer hummmssss. If you want a workhorse that's almost indestructable, this is for you. I travel on business ALOT, and this is my link to the world for work and play. It's been dropped several times and I even spilled water on it. NO PROBLEM, it still works great. It's comparable with any $1200 computer on the market. I say that with confidence, I know it's the truth. My advice? Buy one.
