Rating: - Philips 20X DVD+/-RW LightScribe SATA Drive
This drive comes with a driver for windows xp.
The burning software has many features for cd and dvd
media. I have not used the light scribe funtion yet.
the drive is fast and accurate.
Rating: - Good deal!
its quiet, very fast responce, SATA!. Nero it comes with is very basic.. and some functions of the software are only trial period. so buy your own software! Also it says Lite-On but the actual unit is a product Philps. (shrug)
other than parts of the software being trials its a good deal. going to test out the lightscribe feature soon :)

First, make sure that your power supply has an available SATA connector. You may be like me, with a motherboard that supports SATA, but an older power supply.
Second, if you are looking for ANY DVD-RW drive that doesn't come with that infernal Nero 7 Essentials, well, you're out of luck again.
Third, it's advertised as being manufactured by Lite-on. The one I received was manufactured by Philips. I'm off-put by sales practices like that.
Even if my power supply supported SATA, I still would have returned it.

Haven't used it much, but it seems like a winner. Apparently, this is manufactured by Lite-On, but it says it is a Philips. This annoyed me at first, so I ended up returning one of them, reordered it, and they sent me the same Philips burner. Regardless of who manufactured it, it should be called a Philips, not a Lite-On. It is Lightscribe, but I haven't even burned a DVD yet, let alone used the Lightscribe function. Aside from the naming issue, I wish the loading tray were a little smoother.

This is my first SATA drive although my custom PC always had the capability and I must say I'm very impressed with the ease of installation (hardware and software). One important setback that I discovered however was that you need to make sure your BIOS and other drivers for your motherboard are up to date otherwise Windows XP will give you the blue screen of death and keep rebooting endlessly at bootup once you've connected the drive. That was an oversight on my part. Once I shutdown and disconnected the SATA cable, turned on my PC, updated my drivers and BIOS and then shutdown the PC, reconnected ... Read More
