I was fortunate enough to buy my Osterizer with the metal jar (it came with the plastic one as well, which I never use). For the most part, I use my blender to make protein shakes (with plenty of ice and fruit - I keep frozen banana chunks on hand as well as mango chunks, strawberries, blueberries, etc). The metal jar keeps the shake 'colder' and feels almost like getting a milkshake at an old 50's diner! This is really a good as it can't break like plasic and glas jar. This could be tooooo good if it would have an handle to hold the jar, but still I would recommend to buy this jar to everyone.
