Editorial Review:

Description:
Peter (Jason Segel) is a struggling musician who finds his world turned upside down when his TV celebrity girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), dumps him for a tragically hip rock star. It’s the hysterically funny look at how far one man will go to forget a girl – and all the fun he finds along the way!

Amazon.com:
Breaking up is hard to do--but that doesn't mean you can't have some belly laughs about it. Forgetting Sarah Marshall provides that rare treat: a romantic comedy about breakups, that is both romantic and funny. The laughs, especially from writer-star Jason Segel, are both heartfelt and raunchy, and the film is just unexpected enough that it keeps the viewer's attention till the end. The touches of producer Judd Apatow, who's famously retooled rom-coms to appeal to guys as much as women, are woven throughout the film, but Segel's script, reportedly based on many of his own experiences, is fresh and original. And adult. Forgetting Sarah Marshall features male genitalia laffs presented in unexpected and human ways (the nude breakup scene is played for giggles but also deep poignancy), and the language and sex scenes are strictly for grownups--and rightly so. Segel's script, and his performance as Peter, show that he understands the true nature of adult relationships, which provides the refreshing difference between this film and some of Apatow's other crude creations. The cast is sublime; Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars) plays title character Sarah, a self-absorbed actress, and Russell Brand is her new British honey who accompanies her to--what are the chances?--the exact same Hawaiian resort as Peter, who's nursing his broken heart. Mila Kunis plays Rachel, the resort employee who gives Peter a reason to hope, and Paul Rudd is the surfing instructor who gives him his own brand of heartfelt advice ("When life gives you lemons, just say 'F--- the lemons' and bail," he says cheerily). The pacing is screwball, and the absurdities fly (a "Dracula" musical puppet show, and a surprisingly lovely Hawaiian version of "Nothing Compares 2 U"). Nothing the viewer will forget any time soon.--A.T. Hurley

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Hilarious Movie!!!
Though parts of it are a little raunchy and over the top, this is a hilarious movie and a must-have for any comedy collection!

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Brain numbing
I really don't get how some people rated this movie so highly. Maybe I saw a different "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"? This was a terrible movie. Like really, truly awful. There were no redeeming factors. I did not even smile much less laugh a single time during this movie.

Basically it's about this whiny guy named Peter who is upset that his TV actress, Sarah, broke up with him to be with some tree hugging singer. Awww.... I feel for you, Peter. I really do. But the fact that you REMAINED whiny and weepy all they way up until the last.... oh I dunno.... 7 minutes of the movie.... ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Hilariously Unexpected
I laughed a lot, which means this was very funny to me. Jason Segel from "Knocked Up" plays Peter Bretter whose girlfriend breaks up with him. Segel wrote the screenplay & bares all in the beginning of the film, which was startling. But he plays it in a very matter-of-fact way, seemingly comfortable even though not the most toned of men. His girlfriend is Sarah Marshall who is running on a crime scene TV show. Kristen Bell who is currently on TV's "Heroes" & was "Veronica Mars" in that series does an incredible acting job. The fine delicacy of emotion that comes across her face, the ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - You won't forget this comedy
Jason Segel proves that he is the latest Judd Apatow protege to deliver the comic goods in this raunchy, sweet and totally entertaining comedy about healing broken hearts.

Segel wrote and stars as an underacheiving every man who, after getting dumped by his celebrity girlriend (Kristen Bell) takes a vacation to Hawaii to put her behind him. The buds of a new romance develop quickly when he meets Rachel (Mila Kunis) who works the front desk at the resort he stays at. But as fate would have it, Sarah and her new boyfriend (Russell Brand) are staying there as well.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Comedic Timing
That's what this movie's strongest point is. Each of the actors know when the punchlines should be inserted and do so frequently throughout the entire movie. Writer/Star Jason Segel proves his growing talent in this film.
