Description: A poor black farm boy named Jack asks the dentist's daughter Emily to be his wife. When the dentist learns of this he tells Jack he will never amount to anything and not to come back until he has a thousand dollars. Jack fails to find a job but he does meet a group of robbers and bootleggers who agree to spare his life if he will steal for them. Using clever tricks, Jack proves to be a "master thief," steals the bootleggers' and robbers' money, buys himself a car and new clothes and heads home to claim Emily's hand. But the dentist sets more obstacles in Jack's path to true love that call on him to proves his persistence and ingenuity. No longer able to put off the wedding, the dentist sees them off on their honeymoon saying, "I always knew that boy would amount to something!"

You know the story, but you will be on the edge of your seat and watch every minute to be sure. A very delightful take on an age old story. The Davenport version brings reality to the fairytale.
