Rating: - Johnny's Awesome!
I recently bought this video, and I think it's the best in the entire series. It's fun seeing "The Tonight Show" opening in black and white, when it was still being filmed in New York. That was a first for me. That particular clip, which includes a portion of Johnny's monologue, is from 1966 or '67. All of the black and white clips are my favorite. Rating: - TOO Funny
I grew up with Johnny Carson, even before the Tonight Show. I thought he was funnier than anyone I'd ever seen as a kid. The expressions on his face! This is classic. Good for the soul, good for the mood. Good prescription for anyone who appreciates Carson and those old innocent funnies. I rented this and laughed for the whole hour...had to rewind to make sure I didn't miss the next joke!
Rating: - Funny!
This video has one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen in my life. Ed has a few too many and gets a little loose-tongued. Guaranteed to make you laugh! This video is a must for your home video collection.
Rating: - The best of the series - laugh until the tears come.
This is Johnny Carson at his best. I drag this video out when I am sick or feeling down. It never fails to make me laugh to the point of tears. His genuine cleverness is a delight to view. This is Vol. 1 - the early years. It's a charge just to see the change in styles, music, comedy and who's who!
