I just finished watching 'Mosby's Marauders' on vhs as purchased from an Amazon seller in still sealed/unopened shrinkwrap; interestingly, though my official Walt Disney release box lists 79 minutes as the run time in fact it was 183 (can't imagine what they'd cut to make it 134 minutes as one reviewer referenced or only 79 as the box itself suggests.)

STORY: A young Private in the Confederate army, Willie Prentiss (Kurt Russell at about 16 years old), is assigned to guard a remote river outpost during the American Civil War. THIER are two versions of this film. the full 134min licenced version..Canadian..??? and the short version by uncle walt. haveing obtained the long version first . then used it as a berthday present. re ordered for myself another coppy. i was verry dissapointed .. i feel uncle Walt. cheated me out of 50min of in depth film...the longer version gives a better insight into the cival war..and better charactor depth..you are advised to obtain the none disney coppy.. you will be mutch happier..than disneys B featcher....T.Sutton...U.K.

I grew up watching (& loving) all the Disney classics & since I'm a major Civil War buff this along with "Johnny Shiloh" & "The Great Locomotive Chase" have always been favorites of mine. While this fun Civil War adventure gets some of the history about Mosby wrong, it at least gets the main facts right, like his famous raid behind Union lines & capture of Gen. Staughton. It stars a very young Kurt Russell as well as James MacArthur (who was in "The Battle of the Bulge" also) & has plenty of humor, action, romance, & suspense to keep just about anyone entertained from beginning ...
