Rating: - Scary!
We have been using this heater for about 5 months now in our infant daughter's room. Up until last night, the product was fine. Last night we could smell a burning smell from outside of her room coming from the heater! The heater has never been moved and is always set to the same temperature so we are not sure what happened. Needless to say, this was extremely scary and we won't be using it anymore! All reviews I've read for the product are generally good so perhaps this is a fluke.
The LCD light on the top is also very bright and annoying - it never turns off.
Rating: - Heats well and distributes it evenly
Pros:
- Works really well in heating up our living room quickly and quietly. (We tried the Holmes quartz tower heater (HQH307) but that only heated the air right in front of the machine and was super loud.)
- Housing stays cool.
Cons:
- I have small hands (about 6" long), but the indentation in the back where you are supposed to hold the top is even hard for me to insert my fingers into. Granted, you are also supposed to use your other hand to hold onto the other side at the base, but I would prefer a deeper top handle. I also encountered the same issue with the Holmes. ... Read More
Rating: - Good with some concerns..
Very nice but not perfect.
Makes a loud relay click when it comes on. I have two of these heaters, they both do this. Getting used to this over time.
Does not put out large amounts of heat so if you live somewhere with actual cold this is probably not to
be used as primary heat. It could be used to warm up a room over what your furnace is doing for the entire house. If you live in Coastal California, then it works fine.
Rating: - Space Heated
I bought the Touchstone for my home office. It's a decent space to heat but I wanted to heat only that space rather then heating my whole house. The Vornado does the job. It produces a good amount of heat fairly quickly. The room gets comfortably warm in a matter of minutes. Perhaps about 10 minutes for a 10X12 room with a 8' ceiling. The heater is pretty quiet, I know it's there but it is not enough to disturb me while I am working. The remote and digital display are kind of unnecessary. In retrospect I would have bought a unit that does not have those features, if I could save money. This unit is pretty ... Read More
Rating: - Jasmine the kitten makes this worthless to me
I like Vornado heaters a lot. They give out moderately cool air, so you sit around and think "it's not working, it's not working" until you suddenly realize the room is warm. And unlike the imitations, the heat is not as stratified--particularly if you have it set so the fan is always on.
I thought this one might be sturdier than the smaller ones (it might well be) and that the remote would be wonderful.
But...
The top is a perfect place for a kitten to rest, especially when it's heating. And if she wriggles a bit, she presses buttons, any buttons--but particularly ... Read More
