really gets the air moving, in winter or summer. we tend to get drafty spots in the winter and in the summer some rooms never really cool down. placing this in a good spot (which basically involves following the suggestions in the manual) is key. it is very quiet and has been the best fan i've owned. next time I need another fan I'll definitely look for another Vornado.
