Rating: - Not as Sturdy as They Used to Be
These utensils are still fairly sturdy, but they're not made like they used to be. In the past, the steel was a much heavier grade, as was the plastic casing. Undoubtedly a cost cutting measure, now they're made in China, so perhaps that explains their current lower quality. Still a good value for the price, & they are still as sturdy (or more) than typical inexpensive dinnerware.
Rating: - A greener choice
I have been using this flatware set for years and I love it. I use it at work as an alternative to disposable plastic utensils. Less trash and I don't have to worry about finding pieces of my fork in my salad. I also keep a couple of sets in my picnic basket. The plastic cover not only keeps the utensils clean, it also keeps dirty utensils away from clean stuff.
Rating: - Handy and clever
We bought this specifically for when we take food to work with us, but it would be just a great for picnics or camping. The knife, fork and spoon are full size, so it doesn't feel like eating with toys, but they still fit together and into the snap on case. And the knife really is sharp! Believe them when they tell you to be careful with it.
Rating: - Handy in China
We took Mangia tool sets to China, where knives and forks are not always available. The knife, fork and spoon pack neatly into the plastic cover, and a set is not too heavy to carry around. The cover could be a tad larger - it is a snug fit, and the cover on one of our sets cracked when snapped shut when the implements were not quite nested together perfectly. The cover was handy following a meal, when the cover could be snapped over the implements and the food residue was prevented from making a mess inside a pocket or purse.
Rating: - The Case is Useless
I only bought this set in order to have covered silverware to keep in my desk at work. The case does not stay closed or fit properly. Even when I remove the silverware entirely, I cannot get it to close, let alone stay closed.
Other than that, the silverware itself is sturdy and fits together well. If you do not need a case to cover the part that goes in your mouth, I would recommend this set. If you plan on traveling with it or keeping in a drawer and want the case for sanity reasons, don't bother.
