Rating: - Works fine
When I first got this space heater almost a year ago, I would have given it 5 stars, but I've noticed that it sometimes blows cool air at my legs, even though I never change the setting. It seems to me that a space "heater" should never cool, just heat, even if the thermostat wants to turn off the heat at that point. But the heater looks nice and generally works fine.
Rating: - Loud and unreliable
I've owned my Vornado for about a year and a half. I've already had to return it once because the on/off switch stopped functioning (not damaged, just stopped working). Paid Vornado $45 for the repair.
Recently, the fan has started getting much louder to where I really can't run it at night and still sleep. I'm either looking at another $45 repair or tossing it and buying a new heater. If I do replace, it likely won't be with another Vornado.
Rating: - It's OK but a previous model is better
I have an 8-year old BVH model Vornado that is still going strong, and needed another for another room, so I bought this DVH model. I'll keep it, but it is a let down. Here's why. The BVH model had a thermostat control that continuously varies heat and fan speed to maintain temperature. The DVH, however, cycles abruptly between high and low to maintain temperature. Plus, when it cycles to low, there is an annoying 60-cycle buzz, such as you might hear from a transformer. I have my doubts about the usefulness of the digital display -- with the heat and vibration, I expect the display will be the first part to fail in a year or so.
It's OK and I'll keep it, but I would rather have another BVH, and think it is no longer made. Both models do, indeed, distribute heat in a room more evenly than those radiator-style electric heaters or small heaters that have a small, loud, fan.
Rating: - heater or noisemaker?
holy crap.... is this a heater or a grade A noise machine (not the good kind)? just got home with this little devil ($100 lighter) and after reading all of the instructions i plugged it in to begin heating. well,...it actually seems to be heating just fine, BUT it is making a terrible buzzing noise, the little squeaky kind of buzzing that almost seems like it should only be heard by dogs or something. unfortunately for us, that is not the case.
i give this an F unless their objective was to put my child in an insane asylum at an early age.
i'll take it back, of course, and we'll be no worse for wear, but don't waste your time as i did. i read another review mentioning this buzzing and ignored it as it was the only review that did so. however, my experience was exactly the same.
Rating: - Little guy with not much heating power
We ordered this based on the good reviews it got but are a little upset with it. We're trying to keep a cold room off our building heated so we can work in it but this little guy doesn't really do the job. It keeps it tolerable, if that. And the digital read-out says it's higher degrees in the room than it actually is. This may be good for a room that's only a bit drafty...but nothing that takes more than a little heating power.
