Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - too loud, but moves air decently
We had a cheap honeywell vornado knockoff that was obnoxiously loud, so I wanted to replace it with a vornado, under the assumption that it would be whisper quiet like they advertise. It's not very quiet at all, even on it's lowest setting. It's too loud for a bedroom. It does move air well though.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Moves a lot of air but very noisy for a Vornado
I have an old (model 280) Vornado air circulator which I love-- big air flow and minimal noise, so I automatically gravitated towards Vornado when I needed a new compact fan that could move a lot of air.

This new fan is very loud for a Vornado. It has a heavy/audible vibration even at its lowest setting, so much so that it isn't dampened by sitting on carpet. On a hard floor it's probably worse still. I intended this fan to cool a hot spot created by computers in my office, but its noise (even on low) is much louder than all the computer fans and spinning hard drives.

This fan moves a lot of air as advertised, it just feels cheaper than the old Vornados and much louder. For some other brand, this would be 4 stars. For the premium Vornado brand, the best I can give it is 3 stars.

The interior electronics (motor) are visible while they weren't in my older model, so perhaps the design of the casing has changed. Also as others have noted, Vornado fans (at least this size) are now made in China instead of the US. This may have affected quality.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Not what they used to be.
The quality on this Vornado product is not as good as in the past. The product is no longer made in the USA but is instead made in China. Whether or not this is the reason for lower quality I don't know. Like a couple of other reviewers this unit is not not near silent on low speed and unless aimed directly upright has an irritating rhythmic "burmpt, burmpt" to it. On higher speeds this noise goes away but the air noise increases significantly as reported by others. $40 is a high price for a less than perfectly executed small "air circulator."

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - awesome power in a tiny little package
first off id like to say that i never ever thought of spending so much on a fan in my life. i usually go to the mom and pop places and buy em for about 5 bucks. After several people enthusiastically recommended this to me i was skeptical at 1st. Since many of my junk fans broke on me i thought it would be a good investment since this is a reputable company.

the fan is very powerful! I cant wait to test drive this thing in the summer. this might be a good alternative for people looking to keep cool in the summer without having to use the AC.

The only cons I can think of is that the outer casing is made of plastic, the older ones im told were metal.

update - one of the fan blades broke on me after a small drop. ive had this for about 8 months. im a bit skeptical now because the quality of the materials are low grade plastic and this is made in china...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Very Powerful Little Fan
I've been using it for about three months now. It is very powerful and the noise is more than tolerable. It is solidly built and is great for refreshing a stuffy room. It's pricier than other fans, but you really do get what you pay for with this little fan. I found that it does get a little noisier as it gets older, so clean it regularly if possible.
