This is a great fan. Quiet and powerful, it appears well built. I have 3 of them and they are greatly appreciated on warm summer nights.

Rating: - am i spoiled?
or is the new vornado fan a mere shadow of the older versions? buying this fan was a no-brainer based on my experience with other vornado products but i am really disappointed. it is much noisier than its predecessor (which we still use), the three speed control isn't nearly as handy as the adjustable control and its not as well made.

we ended up relegating this model to the garage and hunting for an old school vornado. using them side-by-side confirmed our impressions. we won't spend the extra money to buy another unless vornado figures out that saving a couple of bucks in manufacturing is ruining their reputation as a maker of quality products.

Rating: - My Third Vornado Because It's Better Than the Rest
I was in a retail store recently and the store had hundreds of turned-on fans in the fan section. Some of the fans were on full-blast and I barely felt a breeze. Not the Vornado, which was roughly ten dollars more than its competition. More focused breeze gust, less noise, more power, the Vornado is worth the extra ten dollars or so. Now I've got a tiny Vornado in the kitchen and two 630B Mid Sizes, one in my office, one in the bedroom.

I like this machine. It circulates the air well and is a compact size. It is not as well made as the older models (all plastic vs. metal on older models).
